Because I Wore This

Annual Event/Fundraiser

This demonstration fundraiser raises the bar, our standards, and our eyebrows as we fill the room with styled mannequins from posh boutiques and department stores to change the narrative about human trafficking. This event unites our community to take a stand against human trafficking. By combining fashion, survivors, and powerful testimonies, this is the most significant event of National Human Trafficking Awareness Month!

Jan 30, 2025

Hosted at Step One Alpha Romero, over 100 people attended the must-see event. Empowering survivor leaders from all over the nation to join hands and share their testimonies of overcoming left the audience in tears. Tears of joy were shared as we raised the bar together to provide better services for survivors and supported the survivor leaders throughout their healing journey. Emcee Chesley Polk welcomed the Board of Directors and Keynote Speaker Marianne Thomas. Each year, we provide more education to share, opportunities to give, and fun!

2024- Our Very First Event

To kick off Human Trafficking Awareness Month, 2024 was dedicated to driving change. Changing perspectives, changing our future, and changing the narrative of how people understand anti-trafficking efforts. Survivors must be provided with dignity and credibility as experts on their lived experiences. They are the subject matter experts of their healing journey.. They have passion, determination, and more grit and grace to help change this narrative. This year, the venue was the Museum of Commerce in Pensacola, featuring fabulous vendors such as Coralin’s Custom Creations, Mrs. Jones Cold Brew, and Tap the Coast. Emcees Jeremy Ruffin and Abraham Sculley kept the audience entertained. Keynote Speaker Tanya Gould made us laugh and cry as she shared her perspective on overcoming. Survivors shared the same mission: we are not victims, we are WARRIORS!
