One of the most important meetings at Capital Hill. Over 50 survivor leaders and their allies joined congressional representatives to discuss upcoming legislation. Twice a year the organizations gather to discuss how the United States intends to eradicate human trafficking.

Human Trafficking Awareness Day

January 11, 2024, was National Human Trafficking Prevention Day. Our team of Survivor leaders provided a full-day summit on mental health and anti-human trafficking. This was provided to the mental health professionals of Lifeview Group the community advocacy center for mental health in Escambia County, FL. Topics included, trauma-informed care, the power of storytelling, Cult trafficking and Dissociative Identity Disorder, alternative therapeutic modalities, and a panel of survivors. Pictured above is Founder, Alicia Tappan, the survivor panel and (r) Shawn Salamida, President of Lifeview Group.

THE SURVIVOR ROUND TABLE hosted in Washington, DC was a phenomenal opportunity for legislation to be presented by Senators, Congressmen, and women for survivor leaders to review and provide feedback. This bi-annual event is crucial for survivor leader voices to sit at the national decision-making table.

THE ANNUAL A21 WALK FOR FREEDOM is hosted in October each year. Vendors, partners, advocates and survivors unite to spread awareness in a silent demonstration walk to advocate against human trafficking.

Survivor voices are the driving force to creating positive social change. Educating law enforcement, medical teams, mental health services, education institutions, faith-based communities, and child welfare systems is essential. Sharing stories, statistics, and trauma informed care tools will equip these systems of care with survivor-centered approaches. This is the way to build capacity of anti-human trafficking efforts within businesses across the USA.

“Alicia Tappan and Tiffany Parker share their heart wrenching tales of survival in order to expose the truth about human trafficking, its victims, and its secret language hiding in plain sight.” – Garry Lisiewski, Vice President, National Homeland Security Association

Lifeview Mental Health Training

August 4, 2023
Mental Health Professionals need a healthy amount of training and education dedicated to Human Trafficking awareness, advocacy and trauma-informed care resources and tools. Collaborating with different providers and educators supported the diverse conversations. Interacting with their peers provided an opportunity for tried & true evidence based practices to practice before implementing with their clients.
“Lifeview Group was very fortunate to host Alicia Tappan for a very engaging and informative training to improve competencies in working with human trafficking survivors . Alicia and her colleagues are excellent partners for our agency. Our human trafficking task force is working to ensure our agency and team members have the information and training needed to aid in combatting this epidemic. This training, and future trainings, will assist our workforce in gaining the clinical skills necessary for best supporting survivors”
